Last night was Grandma's (Mom's) birthday. She spent the evening of her birthday helping me clean for the holidays though. We (the Wegner girls) decided to help each other prepare for the holidays by spending an evening at each other's house getting that house ready. With 4 people, a lot gets done this way. I decided that I most needed help with some major organizing... sorting the kids clothes that is either outgrown or out of season so that I have room in their dressers to put away clothes that they are currently wearing. And with my sewing area... I've been given a lot of fabrics by people and Eric put up shelves for me to put that fabric on but I've had trouble getting the fabric onto the shelves. It's definitely easier with one person standing on the table below the shelves and the other people handing fabric up. We really accomplished a lot though.
But... since it was Mom's birthday, Sandi and I decided to surprise her. We took a break mid evening and Sandi had prepared Strudel (yum!) and I got out some St. Julian's Sparkling Raspberry Spumante. We drank it in goblets and just enjoyed sitting down for a while.
Katelyn came home during the sit down break (Eric took the kids so that we could work easier) and found out that it was her Grandma's birthday. So when we were done eating, she pulled her Grandma up and walked her to the table. Katelyn pointed out the chair she wanted her to sit in and then pulled the table up close to Grandma. Then she got each of us other people and stood us around the table. And she pulled the chairs away from the table so it was easier to see. She then stood herself in the circle and told us to, "go." We couldn't figure it out until we realized that this is how we stood at Conner's birthday except that Grandma was now sitting where Conner was. Katelyn wanted us to sing Happy Birthday to her!
We all sang (again... Katelyn had missed the first time) and she was very happy. This is what you do at Birthdays and she wanted to make sure everything was proper for her Grandma's birthday!Comments:Add a comment:
