Katelyn, Conner and Caleb!

Conner's sleeping through the night didn't last long. Conner got a tooth... number 13 for him. He has 4 in the font top, 4 in the front bottom and 4 molars. This tooth came in on Conner right side next to his four top front teeth. For a few days after this, he decided that his bedtime was 1am. We're working to change that! So now Conner isn't allowed to sleep in past 8, is only allowed a maximum of 2 hours of nap, and Eric is putting him to sleep at night. It's working better at getting him to bed at a decent time but he still is waking some at night. But... he's not waking up quite as early as he was doing before.

Katelyn and Conner had some Christmas money on a giftcard from Target so we went this evening to help them spend it. They both got to pick out their own things. Katelyn picked out a Duplo Thomas the Tank Engine set. It has 16 track pieces, Thomas, a Troublesome truck, Tidmouth Station, a stop/go thing and... Katelyn's favorite, a cargo loader for the truck. We couldn't figure out though why Katelyn was dumping out the "cargo" onto Thomas instead of into the truck... then we figured out that she was saying, "Wash down... Wash down..." when she did it. It looks a lot like the wash down tank on the Thomas videos and Katelyn was using it to wash Thomas. Nevermind that instead of water, it's duplos dropping onto Thomas. Yep, she's indroctinated into the Thomas lingo.

Conner picked out a big ball and a set of duplos with zoo animals and a zoo keeper. He was soo excited about both. When we checked out and the duplo set went away into the bag, Conner was a bit distraut. He wanted to make sure that the duplos were going home with him.

We let the kids choose by letting them explore the toy area and they picked out the toys themselves.

Another morning of Conner waking up in his own bed! We were surprised. Conner came in at about 5am this morning. I think he fell out of bed because I heard a small crash. But at the time I wondered if he was in a bathroom playing aorund. Then he wandered into our room and almost fell over on the way because he was still half asleep. I nursed him a little and then got up to use the bathroom. While I was gone, he fussed a very short while and then fell asleep. So I moved him back to his bed. He did wake up again on the way there but I was able to help him fall asleep again. I really think that Eric and I are getting much more restfull sleep without Conner there.

But I don't regret the amount of time that he's spent most of the night with us. Many of those nights I tried to get him back to his own bed and I can very honestly say that I got almost no sleep then. I slept much better with him in our bed then I did trying to get him into his own bed. It's much better waiting until he's ready. But now that he's ready, we're sleeping that much better again.

Which is very good because I'm fighting a cold. Congestion and all that. It's not bad but the better sleep definitely helps.

Katelyn surprised us this morning. She woke up, unzipped her footed pj's, pulled down her diaper, and went potty on her potty. Then she put her diaper on, zipped the pj's back up and came to tell us. We were quite impressed. We're still doing diapers at nap time and bed time but otherwise she seems to be doing well at potty training. It's sure cut down on diaper laundry!

    1089.1

I tried something new with Katelyn last night and it seems to be working really well. She got down from the table at supper and went to the potty without me telling her to. She was only wearing underwear though, not pants and that seems to make a difference for her. If it's been panties with pants she hasn't gone on her own. And if she's wearing a diaper? There's been no chance of her telling me that she needed to go on her own or even telling me that she'd gone. This time though, I put a second star on her star chart for her. It was in the same spot as the one she put on so it didn't fill the chart any faster but I told her that it was because she told herself to go potty and that was really special so it got an extra star. She seemed to like that idea.

Well, last night she climbed out of bed and used the potty all on her own! Twice! We've had the potty in her room for a few days now but she hasn't really thought about getting up and using it. Even though I've discussed it with her. She got an extra star each time and we even called her grandma so Katelyn could brag about it on the phone.

What is really cool though is that usually in the morning, she'll ignore the potty until I take her diaper off. But this morning, she pulled it down like a pull up and went on the potty all by her herself!!! I was so excited! This is a huge breakthrough!!!

There's exciting news about Conner too....
He spent all of last night in his own bed!!! I was so excited to wake up this morning and realize that. He took longer then usual to fall asleep last night but after I set him in his bed, he also did something he'd never done before. He woke up, cried for about 2 seconds, and then fell back asleep. He's been doing that in our bed but not in his own. It's been as though he needed to wake up just enough to reassure himself that he was still with us. Then he'll move around a little, find a new spot to put his head down, and fall back asleep.

I was very happy to hear him doing similiar last night. But he did his usual wake up for a snack at about midnight. I nursed him for a bit and he fell asleep. Really asleep. It was an I could move him around and he didn't wake up kind of asleep. So I moved him back to his bed. I figued, he'd probably wake up again later but Eric had just had a very long day at work and could use a few hours of sleeping without Conner pushing against him.

I was shocked though when Eric got up this morning for work and woke me up to ask where Conner was. Neither of us had expected him to stay in his bed!

When I went in this morning to wake Katelyn up, Conner had done his moving around the bed thing. But he'd stayed in his own bed while doing. I was quite impressed.

And very glad because Eric isn't the only one who needed some extra productive sleep. I did too. We've had a number of late nights this week. All for very good reasons, but they've still really cut into the sleep that I've wanted and needed. And Conner had a few restless nights before that because he was so congested.

Conner really woke up happy because I was sitting on his bed when he woke. He had the biggest smile on his face once he saw me. That's a nice thing for a mom to see.

Katelyn finished filling her aquarium today. With a BIG fish!

We went to buy her a 3rd fish and she picked out a tiny little black gold fish. One of those with googly eyes. It was very cute. We all thought so. But as Katelyn said, "Little fish stop. No go. Stop." So we took it back to Meijer. And Katelyn decided to replace her little fish with the biggest black goldfish that she could find in that tank! This fish was seriously close to being in the tank right next to it with big versions of the same fish.

She's very proud of her big fish.

But we had a conversation about her tank being full now. There's no more room for any more fish. If we hadn't bought a 4th fish before replacing the 3rd fish, I'd have stopped at 3 fish. I did not expect her to come home with such a big fish though!

The worker at Meijers was so sweet though. He has older kids he said and it showed because he was very patient. Katelyn had her fish all picked out and everytime he caught one that wasn't it and asked her if that was the one she wanted she said, "No," and then pointed out the big one that she wanted. It was very cute. I'm glad that guy was there... he was so patient with her. I should put in a good word to Meijer for him.

Conner has been congested the last few days. He woke up for two nights with what sounded like wheezing. After talking to Sandi and deciding that I really couldn't tell if it was real wheezing or not, we decided to take him to a professional. At Mom's suggestion, we tried the chiropractor first. He needs an adjustment anyways. But the earliest we could get him in there was in 3 weeks. So we took him to the ped.

The good news is that he is only congested. I really appreciate our peds. The doctor looked at him and pointed out what to look for to identify real wheezing. And... she didn't even prescribe anything. Man, I like these peds!
