Katelyn told me this morning that because it's getting close to Christmas, we needed to have a new design on the page.
Now she wants me to type about "Me, Conner and Caleb". Which means that she wants to see all 3 names as I type. Katelyn. Conner. Caleb. Now she's happy. :D
Caleb passed his follow up appointment yesterday ("type about Conner too..."). He's eating regular meals again, has almost normal stools. And most importantly, he's acting perfectly normal again.
This year for Christmas, my 3 kids are buying gifts for three of their cousins with a one dollar price limit. Eric took them to Michael's last night as my shift was ending and they wandered around the store looking for something to buy. It was cute to see what the picked out. Conner's was based on his interests. Katelyn thinks Josh will have fun with hers (I was kind of surprised at what she picked out... it's a bit odd) and Caleb's was probably the only one that was truly age and person appropriate. He thought he was picking out for himself though. He didn't like when he had to give his gift up to the cashier.
Since his fever, Conner seems more confident in his talking and interaction. I noticed it right after he was sick when he kept talking over Katelyn in the van. Usually he lets her do the talking while we're there. But now he gets upset and tells her that it's his turn to talk. But what was interesting was hearing him on the phone while I was in the hospital with Caleb. He sounded so much like Katelyn with his sentence structure and word choices.
So... enjoy the new Christmas theme!Comments:Add a comment:

Caleb ate a pretty good lunch yesterday... some yogurt and a "granola" bar. He wouldn't eat for me though. He just wants to nurse. I'm going to claim that it's because he only eats if I'm not around. He's nursing right now.
I'm scheduled to work today which means I need to stop nursing him in about 15 minutes. So he has that long to get as much nursing nutrition into him as he can. And then it's solids and bottles/sippies for the next 6 or so hours.
Caleb even slept through the night last night! That gave me some much needed solid sleep. I was awake or restlessly sleeping the entire night while we were in the hospital. Add in the 2 or 3 am blood draw and you can imagine that it just wasn't very restful for me. It made work yesterday very difficult because I was simply exhausted. I think today will go so much better for me. I'm still tired but it's tired, not exhausted.
With the extra nursing that I'm doing, I need to drink more water then I am right now. I'm just not remembering to drink extra. My skin is so dry as a result. Just incredible.
Ok... off to focus on Caleb for a bit before I have to leave for work.Comments:Add a comment:

Quick summary: Caleb and Conner both were sick on Tuesday. Conner had been sick on Sunday too.
By Wednesday morning, Conner was completely over the bug but Caleb had gotten extremely dehydrated overnight. I called the ped, the ped didn't have any appointments until later in the afternoon so I was told to take Caleb to the ER. We were admitted overnight to help rebalance his electrolytes and to rehydrate him with an IV.
We were discharged around 7:00 Thursday evening. Caleb still had a fever and was obviously still sick but there was nothing that the hospital would have done that I couldn't do at home at that point.
Ok... you're now up to date.
Caleb's been refusing anything by mouth except for nursing which you can imagine has made the last couple of nights rather sleepless for me. This morning however, he woke up with his fever gone and he drank a couple of ounces of water from a bottle. His stool this morning was still very loose but that'll likely take some time to work out of his system.
That's all good news since I'm working this morning! It would have been rough otherwise. I'm hoping that the kids let Caleb sleep for most of the morning and then I'll be home mid afternoon to nurse him again.Comments:Rhonda: Wow. Not anAdd a comment:

Today the kids are painting models. I started working part time seasonal at Michael's and the other day a mom came through the line with a cute wooden model for her 3 year old son to try. She commented that it was only a dollar. Only a dollar? I'd seen these kits before but not realized they were only a dollar.
So yesterday the kids and I went there and the older two each picked one out. Katelyn decided on a tank. As in, an army tank. And Conner picked out a biplane. There was lots of looking, picking out, putting back, picking out another and so on. But they finally decided and are thrilled with their choices.
Yesterday was gluing. Today we're painting. We could have painted first and that would have worked (and was what was recommended) but this is turning out well because the kids can see where the colors are going as they put them on instead of simply painting a bunch of pieces of wood and then magically having those colors end up on the model.
Katelyn thinks it's great that she can wash out her paintbrush in a cup of water and then start out with a clean brush again. Conner just thinks the water is another thing to dip the brush into. He also mixes his paints on the paint plate so nearly all his colors are mixed to some extent.
Conner was so excited about his airplane that he took it up to bed with him last night and I had to bring it back down to the table so the glue could finish drying.
All in all, I'd say that this was two dollars *very* well spent.
Hmmm... as I watch Katelyn, I think she'll be up for painting before gluing next time. She's being very careful and really enjoying this.Comments:Add a comment:
