Today Caleb took himself from his belly to sitting. He's been very close to doing then already but today was the first time he actually did it.
Katelyn also tested out of speech therapy today! We wer very pleased with that. We have the final IEP meeting to sign off on everything in two weeks and then she's done. A great part of this is that if we see her starting to have a delay again, we can contact her speech therapist directly and get everything taken care of much easier.
Katelyn's going to be sad to not see her "teacher" every week.
This afternoon Katelyn decided that Conner would have fun if he had a pillow on the floor. So she put one of our large couch pillows there for him. I was skeptical but it's turned out to be a very fun idea. He'll crawl over to it and then crawl up onto it and even get to a fully kneeling position with his hands on the pillow. He just bounces like that and grins.
A cute story about Caleb today. My mom and dad gave him a talking puppy dog for Christmas. Caleb loves this. He'll spend lots of time hitting it, chewing on it, leaning on it and so on to get it to talk. He also likes that a yellow bone on the front lights up. Well, today he had Katelyn's big bear on the floor and was on top of it pushing all over trying to get it to make noise too. It was adorable.Comments:Add a comment:

Yesterday was so much fun.
We went to a dinner with the "immediate" family. I put it in quotes like that because it was around 20 people. This was at my parent's house and was their kids and grandkids which included adopted ones. This was Katelyn and Conner's first time to meet their new adopted cousins. This was great for them because it added a new dimension to their play. More kids to play with equaled more fun.
And who wouldn't like getting together for corned beef and potatoes? :D I probably ate more then I should have but it tasted so good.
And my mom found crocuses up. That means one more snow and we're done with it for the summer. The kids are enjoying spring around here... especially being able to wear shorts. That is a huge hit.
On Saturday we went to the local easter egg hunt put on by the city. Eric took the kids last year and everybody had fun so we went again this year. It wasn't as busy because it looked like it was going to rain (and had rained all night) but it stayed nice, slightly overcast and not as busy. The kids just loved it.
Conner was photographed by a photographer by the Kalamazoo Gazette so we'll have to see if he makes it into the paper.Comments:Add a comment:

We've started eating kefir here at our house. I should say, drinking kefir. It's a lot like a drinkable yogurt. It's made differently but it has a lot of the same features/benifits/taste. It's easier to make then yogurt which when you consider how simple yogurt is, that says a lot about how easy this is. You just add milk and then wait for a day. I add pureed fruits to it and make smoothies.
Anyways... it's prounounced ke-fear but Katelyn has been asking for "fever" today. I thought that was cute. She also says sara-cell for carousel.

We just got home from picking up our "new" puppy. Arthur was groomed today to get rid of his shagginess from winter and he looks so much different. Almost enough to not recognize him. He'll grow out to a normal corgi look in a few weeks though so this is probably a very good thing. I don't know how long we'll wait between haircuts for him because he is sooo short but it's a nice thing to get every now and then. Maybe we'll do it every spring?
The groomer said that this was the longest blade guard she had that would still cut at all.
Now onto the big news...
Caleb is now crawling consistently!!!
and...
Caleb is now sitting up self supported!!!
Two milestones on the same day. We had him sitting up for over a half hour yesterday. It's the first time he's managed to balance himself well enough to do it more then a few seconds. He even was able to lean side to side and to twist around his torso to look at things. In fact, he sat there so well that he got upset when he couldn't figure out how to get back to his tummy to crawl.Comments:Add a comment:

Wow... I measured Katelyn today and she has grown nearly an inch in the last 3 weeks or so since her pediatrician appointment. And she'd started suddenly outgrowing pants just before that appointment. I didn't think to measure her before we took her off gluten but now I'm curious how much she has grown in the last 2 months.
Things here are progressing. Eric is steadily improving. He's still off work and going to therapy appointments and I definitely can see that it's helping. But he's still far from ready to go back to work. He'll have good days. A few where he'll even give the appearance of being ready to go back to work on a part time basis. But those days wipe him out so much that he has poor days for the next half a week or so.
I've been pleased with his therapy team though. They seem to be doing an excellent job at both helping Eric improve and keeping his spirits up while also giving him a very honest opinion of how he's doing.
Caleb has given up on crawling for a short time and has gone back to working on his balance while he's up on all fours. I had watched him take a few "steps" of crawling before but not recently. Right now he's working on just gaining stability through rocking and occasionally lifting a single hand or knee. Then he'll decide he's tired and will flop down on his belly and rest his chin back on his hand. That seems to be "his" pose.
Conner is getting antsy for Spring. He doesn't think of it that way but I can see him just itching to get outside and be active. I'll be encouraging him to go outside to play alot this summer! He's just all boy. Running, jumping, climbing... you name it. If it's active he wants to do it.
He just today demonstrated to me that he could pedal a bike! We were over at my parent's house and he was on the tricycle and he started pedaling around the house instead of pushing himself with his feet. I think he's probably done this some before from what my mom said but this is the first time I've seen it. I think I'll be getting his bike out for him tomorrow for him to try out. If I can get both Katelyn and Conner biking, this may solve the problem of trying to get 3 kids into the bike trailer. We won't be able to take long trips but it'll still get us out and active this summer.
Now for a proud mommy moment. Katelyn said four verses at Cubbies tonight. And she knew these verses solidly. No question there at all. We didn't attend as regularly as we should have earlier this year so Katelyn has needed to play catch up in order to finish her book. And... the cubbies director did a review game this week and Katelyn was one of the first kids to stand up to say a verse from a prior week. She knew those solidly too. Yay for Katelyn!
I'm thinking of looking for a passage or something that she can work on this summer. I think she'd do well with it and it would be good practice for her. Any suggestions from anyone?Comments:Kimberly: That's a great idea. I've been talking to other moms who have kids in Sparks to find out what translation is used there. She'll have to know it for Sparks so we might as well make sure she memorizes it in the same translation.Rhonda: The 23rd Psalm or the 100th PsalmAdd a comment:
