Katelyn, Conner and Caleb!

June 2007

My "required" sewing for the weekend is done. I'd still like to do a couple of other items but I feel good about what has been finished. I'll let the rest just fill in the time after the kids are in bed and I'm not packing.

Last night I went to my first local SCA meeting since I moved to this area. I was pleased with the people I met and the tone of the group. Not that I'd expect any less but it was encouraging. I was so pleased that I even brought up the idea of going to Pennsic to Eric last night. I have until the 15th to pre-reg. So that's when I need to decide by. It's important to pre-reg if I go becasue the pre-registrations are what decides how much space the group gets to camp in. With the 3 kids and me, we'd count as 4 people and that adds a lot of space to the encampment. If we don't pre-reg, there's no space in the encampment allotted to us so we really shouldn't go.

I did find out last night about a good place to buy a pavillion... think Eric would buy one for me for my birthday? :D I'd need a little help getting it set up but there's always help available at SCA events. Even if you show up after midnight... And what a hoot it'd be to go camping in at a non-SCA event/place with a pavillion.

Today is clean out the van day so that I can get things packed tomorrow and Thursday. Then we'll leave to go camping on Friday early in the morning. I was told last night that I need to get there very early on Friday to get a good spot for the tent. Unfortunately the rest of the local group is camping in the "period tent" area and I have a Sam's Club Special which definitely doesn't count as a "period tent". But it works and fits the family well. So I'm happy with it.

Conner is excited about watching the fighting and I think Caleb is too. He spent all of yesterday evening watching the fighters practice and trying to play with their equipment.

Aunt Laura:  Does this mean that if you are able to pre-register for Pensic an plan on attending that you will be able to come on Saturday for Tim's birthday?

Yay! Caleb's fever broke! It went rather high and was longer then I expected for a high fever but now he's resting and sleeping and just generally acting like he's healing. I have him dressed warmly and he seems to find it very comfortable.

Katelyn made us lunch today. She first made baked potatoes (I handled the oven and hot pan) and then she gave each of us a bowl with shredded cheddar cheese, pieces of a cheese stick (Mozz) and some raisins. Yep... raisins. As a baked potato topping. I helped her cut up the potatoes and that was our lunch.

Conner didn't eat his though. Just before we sat down to eat, as he was coming to the table, he fell and split his lip. Two spots. Poor guy. So he ate two popsicles for lunch.

Btw... it looks like the kids and I are going to be going SCA camping again in a week! I'm very pleased with this. Katelyn has outgrown all her clothes in a big way so I'm sewing her some new ones. She has one complete outfit right now but I should get another underdress done and another overdress.

I *think* I made Katelyn's overdresses before in such a way that they'd make tunics for Conner but I'm not sure. I tried one on him and it was a little short. But it worked. So I'm hoping to get at least one new thing sewn for him before next weekend.

Caleb will just wear Conner's hand me downs this weekend.

I don't think there's enough time for me to make new before the weekend since I want to do more planning to get a good nursing gown ready. We'll see though. If I get an assembly line in place for the kids' stuff then I might have all week to work on some for me. :D That'd be really nice if it works.

Caleb has his first real fever tonight. He wasn't feeling real well today and was nursing constantly. Needy would be a good way to describe it. Then his head started feeling warm and now it's slowly extended throughout the rest of his body.

Honestly, I'm surprised it's taken so long for him to get his first fever.

Eric and I keep thinking back to the other kids' fevers. Each time they had one they seemed to do something new right after. That or go through a growth spurt. It was as though a fog lifted and they suddenly took a step forward in their development though. It was fun to watch. The growth spurt fevers seemed to center on the joints. Especially for Katelyn. We could feel the temperature difference between her joints and the rest of her. It was amazing. This one isn't that way so we're excited to see if Caleb is like his brother and sister in this area.

In the meantime, Caleb is getting lots of snuggles and lots of nursing time. And after I dug out some warm pjs for him, he's sleeping very comfortably right now. Surprisingly so. I almost hate to wake him to take him upstairs to his bed.

One of my neighbors will get a kick out of this story (and you know who you are!). :D Yesterday I taught Katelyn how to clean windows. She was trying to wash the window with a dishcloth which was just making a big mess.

I taught her to make a Mickey Mouse face on the window with the window cleaner. She sprays 3 times and with those sprays makes a pattern of 2 ears and a face. Then she wipes it up.

This has made perfect sense to her and today she very carefully got out all the window cleaning supplies and wanted to do all the windows again. And she even remembered to spray a Mickey Mouse face on the windows.

Kimberly:  LOL! I had a terrible time getting her to stop long enough to eat dinner. One window got cleaned *at least* 3 times last night.

I think this is going to end up being one of her
Kym:  Send that girl to my house!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE washing windows! *hehe*
